Keep in mind Electronic Cigarettes are "Electronic" and nothing electronic lasts forever. There is no specific replacement timeframe's that seem accurate, it depends on usage.

An Electronic Cigarette delivers the nearly the same experience as a traditional Tobacco Cigarette without many carcinogens found in tobacco smoke. (Note: Ecigs may contain some trace carcinogens, this is mainly due to Nicotine being extracted from tobacco leaves).

A good ecig unit will deliver almost the same amount of vapors ("smoke") as a traditional tobacco cigarette would. The "smoke" is actually a water like vapor. The main portion is usually made of food grade Propylene Glycol an organic compound which is commonly found in a variety of food products such as a Snow Cone. The vapors contain nicotine and various flavors that can mimic any cigarette experience making it very easy for a diehard smoker to make the switch.

Some E-Juice (E-Smoke) manufacturers will also use Vegetable Glycerin. Note: some foreign e-liquids have been found to contain carcinogens.

A good Ecig unit will deliver the same feeling of real tobacco smoke to your throat and lungs, the vapor is warm and feels similar to cigarette smoke in your throat .

E-Cig vapors (smoke) are like the real thing but do not expect the "exact" same experience as a tobacco cigarette. Ecigs should not be viewed as a smoking cessation device or NRT but rather a modified risk tobacco product for recreational use.

In the relatively short history of e-cigs only a few models have been introduced. Most models are produced in China at different levels of quality.

Pen Style (aka 901, sometimes called the DSE-901 or DSE901)

Size is similar to a pen and is the original size offered, often referred to as the 801 or 901 model.

Mini Style (aka DSE-801, 510, JOYE 510, NJOY PRO, Janty Dura-C, TECC Titan, Yeti 510, KR808D-1, VaporKing, Green Cig, greensmole, Cigtechs)

Smaller than a pen but larger than a traditional cigarette the 510 models are commonly offered as the Janty Dura-C, Joye 510, JOYETECH, NJOY PRO, Titan and Yeti. These units currently are known to provide better vapor (better known to a newbie as smoke) and throat hit (the feeling of smoke within a human's throat and lungs) a pen style but in a smaller form. The KR808D-1, Vaporking, Inhalerette and several other mass marketed e-cigarettes are two piece "Mini Style" the Atomizer and cartridge are one piece. These models usually do not produce the same amount of vapor as a 510 series.

As a side note, the 510 models are noted to have the highest amount of knock off (fake) imitation ecigs. These units can be dangerous, cause personal harm and even fires. Always buy from a trusted source. BE CAREFUL OF CHINA BASED SUPPLIERS as almost no regulations are in place.

M Series (aka 401, 403 400, Blu Cig, BluCigs)

Often referred to as the 403. The same size as an actual cigarette. Initially this model seems the most appealing unfortunately many reviews of the unit currently point out they cannot deliver the same amount of vapors (better known to a newbie as smoke) and throat hit (the feeling of smoke within a human's throat and lungs) as a real cigarette. Many opt for this unit and move back to smoking traditional cigarettes due to the lack of realism compared to tobacco cigarettes.

PCC
This is a very beneficial accessory PCC stands for Personal Charging Case. You charge the case via any USB connection. "On the Go" you can charge your ecig batteries several times before recharging via USB and / or AC outlet. Currently many e-cig units drain a battery in very short timeframe, the heavier the user the more recharging needed.

USB Pass-Through
Many units offer the USB pass-through (PTC) which is a great option for smokers who are often in front of a computer. One of the downsides of a good E-cig is battery life, The upside is a USB pass through unit receives direct power while using the unit. The down side is your "Cigarette" has a cord.

This is a good option for smokers who have successfully transitioned to an electronic cigarette and spend hours in front of a computer.

America / USA
A very new industry with the majority of USA Ecig Suppliers providing ECigs that are made in China and then relabeled and sold. In fact all current models are made in China. The difference lay's in the quality of the product a supplier purchases in bulk for resale. The general public is not usually aware that China based manufacturers will offer products at different tiers resulting in different pricing and quality control.

Europe
Europeans have benefited from Electronic Cigarettes for several years. It appears the best selling British ecig sold by a British supplier is the EVO which seems to be a good unit as a good amount of positive feedback has been found. However this unit is made in China just like all of the production model ecigs. Currently the 510 models are at the forefront of the industry providing better results.

China
Be very careful. Tithe lack of regulation has resulted in substandard products being sold. There are a few honest suppliers but you can also get a bad "copy-cat" unit (very likely). Even though many units are made in China and shown on the internet for half the price many units are poor in quality.

Many recent forums have pointed out knock off models, especially regarding the JOYE510 models. These China based companies have delivered products that have caused overheating (burning the lips) and several other issues (according to electronic cigarette forums subscribers).

Considering you are inhaling vapors from these units into your lungs, you want a well made unit. You do not want battery leakage (common problem) or any sub-standard parts which could cause harm to your health.

E-Cig Scam Sites
Several ghost sites have been built that have very similar website domain names in comparison to the official website. In reality they are scam website's. When dealing with foreign suppliers double-check everything!

Start your e-cig alternative in a safe manner. When ordering cartridges and / or e-liquid buy the product with the lowest amount of nicotine. This will allow you to adjust your usage accordingly and avoid ingesting too much nicotine.

Many long time smokers will treat an e-cig in the same manner as a traditional cigarette by smoking throughout the day. If the ecig cartridge has too much nicotine you will increase your nicotine consumption considerably.

It is highly recommended that you purchase e-liquid from an American supplier. You will note that the cost is normally three times the amount versus foreign suppliers (from China) but it appears the U.S. products are much better in quality & safety.

BUY AMERICAN, It's a no-brainer, you get what you pay for.

E-liquid is the main component of the electronic cigarette and what you inhale. You want to make sure any unneeded impurities are not present. This is hard to verify with foreign products as nothing is listed on the bottle. U.S. suppliers normally list every ingredient within the e-liquid.

The recent negative FDA report showcasing a cartridge with less than 1% of DEG (Diethylene glycol) was manufactured in China and not the U.S.A.. The reason for the presence of DEG is due to the extraction process of nicotine. Tobacco is normally dried using DEG which explains the (less than 1%) product being found in one of 18 cartridges being tested. A valid question would be the amount of DEG found in a tobacco cigarette.

Note: DEG is used as a drying agent for tobacco leaves and will be found in traditional tobacco products. The nicotine and at times flavors in some electronic cigarette liquid is derived from tobacco resulting in trace amounts of DEG at a much lower volume than tobacco cigarettes.

Be Smart, read the fine print.

If you see a picture of a plane along side the advertisement saying everyone is smoking anywhere: "beware" this company will say anything to sell you the product including lying. You cannot just use an electronic cigarette anywhere for several reasons.

Case in point, many european airlines such as British Air, etc. have banned the use of electronic cigarettes on an airplane. (the ecig has been available in Europe for over six years). Although TSA currently has not restricted the ecigs the U.S. based airlines will probably take the same actions made by European based airlines once the ecig becomes more popular here in the United States.

Many blog's point out that some people have simply used a electronic cigarette in the airplane bathroom (as vapors do not effect the smoke detector) instead of trying to use it in the cabin, this may be one of the main reasons U.S. based airlines have not officially reported on the issue since many choose not to use it in plain view.

Business owners have rights to refuse service, you can also expect future local and state legislation regarding the use of an electronic cigarette in public and private venues. Currently no laws are in place which does not make it alright to smoke (vap) anywhere. Blog's have pointed out that many e-cigarette users especially at work choose to take a break in the bathroom or other private area's as vapor is virtually odorless and leaves no smoke, this may be one of the main reasons no corporations have banned it..

After a recent NY Times front page article the FDA halted all foreign shipments of Ecig products until a formal review can be made.

Shawn can understand the FDA's concern. Ecigs should carry some warnings on packaging, also, many suppliers sell e-liquid / e-juice / e-smoke in a plain bottle without a childproof caps and with no informative / warning labels. The products should have some guidelines.

If you can start this alternative and reduce or stop traditional smoking your lungs will love you for it. All smokers have some kind of lung damage due to traditional smoking. ecigs produce a water like vapor which does not contain tar.

Your lungs have hair like projections called cilia. They basically sweep out foreign particles that are inhaled into the lungs. Things like dust, viruses, bacteria.

When a person starts smoking, the cilia start to slow down, eventually becoming paralyzed and destroyed.

When a person quits smoking, cilia will start to regenerate within a few days. Within six months, the cilia is usually fully regenerated.

If you quit smoking and then occasionally smoke, the cilia will not fully regenerate. The lungs are amazing machines. They can heal themselves over time if given the chance.
